Taiwan Cancer Registry Database (TCRD)

Last updated : April 2025

Overview

The Taiwan Cancer Registry Database (TCRD) is a government-supported nationwide cancer registry system established in 1996. It collects data from 214 hospitals with 50 or more beds mandated to report cancer cases. The TCRD includes both long-form and short-form datasets. The short-form dataset covers all types of cancer. The long-form dataset provides information on the population diagnosed with the ten leading cancers, including oral cavity, oropharynx, lung, bladder, and rectal cancers. Additionally, it offers more detailed data, such as cancer pathology, staging, surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, smoking and drinking habits. The TCRD achieved a completeness rate of 98.4%, with 93.0% of cases across all sites confirmed through morphological verification1,2. In addition, the TCRD can be linked to the NHIRD to obtain comprehensive patients’ health-care information, allowing a more thorough exploration of cancer-related outcomes and regimens.
