Last updated : June 2026

Overview

The Adult Preventive Health Services Database in Taiwan is a nationwide health examination database derived from government-supported preventive health services provided by the Health Promotion Administration. These services aim to promote early detection of chronic diseases among middle-aged and older adults and to provide timely health counseling and intervention. The database includes annual records of eligible adults who received adult health checkups, with approximately 1.6 to 2.3 million records per year. A key strength of the Adult Preventive Health Services Database is that it contains not only demographic and self-reported disease history, but also health behaviors, anthropometric measurements, laboratory results such as blood pressure, renal function, urine protein, and hepatitis B and C screening. With linkage to other national health-related databases through encrypted personal identifiers, it is particularly useful for studies on chronic disease screening, metabolic syndrome, health behaviors, early disease detection, and preventive health service utilization.
