National Immunization Information System (NIIS)
Overview
The National Immunization Information System (NIIS) integrates nationwide publicly funded and self-paid vaccination records in Taiwan, including varicella, measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR), hepatitis A, hepatitis B, influenza, pneumococcal, and human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines. This dataset includes vaccination records for birth cohorts from 2004 to 2015. It includes de-identified individual ID, sex, birth year, vaccine type and number of dose, vaccination date and survival status. By linking with National Health Insurance Research Database, NHIIS supports analyses of post-vaccination safety and effectiveness by adjusting individual comedication, comorbidities, and healthcare utilization. We can also apply quasi-experimental study design such as regression-discontinuity design for impact evaluations of large-scale public health programs.
